On the Menu: Good Food & Goodwill

To some, it might seem the epitome of irony to throw a food fest to combat hunger. How can people who are enjoying some of the finest cuisine in South Florida relate to the hunger of those they aim to help?

It’s simple. You ask them, “doesn’t everyone deserve a meal like this – not one day, but every day?” “Don’t you feel blessed, lucky, fortunate at this very moment?” “Do you realize how easy it is to share the feeling you’re having?” “Then share.”

The outpouring of generosity is staggering. The need to give is overwhelming. The capacity to help is awesome.

If you don’t believe me, come see for yourself. I’m chairing the “Get Crackin’” private brunch at the legendary Joe’s Stone Crab restaurant in Miami Beach on April 21, benefiting Feeding South Florida. I invite you take in the sincerity, caring and true spirit of hundreds who not only can come together for a good cause, but also recognize their collective ability to share the bounty with thousands of others.

We will be celebrating the true torch-bearers of the cause of ending hunger in South Florida – local celebrity Chef Allen Susser, Media Hero Honoree The Miami Herald & El Nuevo Herald and Corporate Citizenship Honoree Southern Wine & Spirits.

One of the biggest benefits of bringing like-minded people together is that the electricity of giving becomes catching, infectious and boundless. You walk away filled with good food AND goodwill. Pure satisfaction.
